Miami, Florida (February 26, 2018) – Futbol Marketing Group (FMG) is proud to announce that FMG has successfully completed the permanent transfer of Goalkeeper Christian Herrera to Sporting Kansas City affiliate Swope Park Rangers (USA) from Real Monarchs SLC (USA).
Christian has been previously part of the Arizona based organization, Real Salt Lake, since 2015. The Las Cruces, New Mexico born goalkeeper, spent 3 months there before catching the attention of C.F. Pachuca and went on a one-year loan to the Liga MX side. After C.F. Pachuca not exercising the option to buy, Christian went on loan to the Portland Timbers B team in the United Soccer League (USL).
Herrera, 20, made his professional debut with C.F. Pachuca’s reserve team in 2016. Christian holds dual citizenship (Mexico and USA) and has also represented both countries at the youth national team level. The New Mexico native has expressed his desire and said “I want to thank Gavin McInerney and the entire SPR/SKC organization for trusting in me and giving me an opportunity of being part of a world class organization.” Christian also said “My dream is to represent either USA or Mexico at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic games.”
Futbol Marketing Group CEO, Cris Barbosa said, “It has been a roller coaster ride for Christian. He has been through it all; on and off the field. It hasn’t stopped him, he has the mentality of a soldier at war. Christian’s goal this year is to compete and put in overtime. Play and be active, gain minutes, consistency in his work, and learn from the more experienced guys.”
