Miami, Florida (January 9, 2018) – Futbol Marketing Group is proud to announce that FMG has successfully completed a one-year loan move with an option to buy following the 2018 season for USA Men’s National team defender Edgar ‘El Homie’ Castillo to Colorado Rapids (USA) from C.F. Monterrey (MEX). Edgar has been a part of the C.F. Monterrey organization since July of 2015. The Las Cruces, New Mexico, born Defender, made just over 50 appearances with C.F. Monterrey in Liga MX (MEX) since joining the club in 2015.
Castillo, 31, a product of Club Santos Laguna academy system, he made his professional debut with Club Santos Laguna in 2006. Later, being permanently transferred to Mexican giants Club America in 2009. Edgar spent time loaned out to Tigres UANL, San Luis, Puebla, and eventually moving on a permanent basis to Club Tijuana in 2012. The New Mexico native also played for Club Atlas from 2014-2015. El Homie made his USA International debut against Denmark on November 18, 2009 under Coach Bob Bradley. Castillo has emphasized in the past his desire to play in MLS and said “Coming to MLS and joining Colorado Rapids is a dream come true. It’s a sigh of relief, a breath of fresh air. My goal is to come in and give 100 percent and help the team accumulate points and make a playoff push.”
